I don't remember this picture being taken, but I love it.  I love the emotion in both my face (amazement at this little person in my arms) and my dad's face (total happiness and joy).  :)

The last video we posted got rave reviews (multiple people have confessed to watching it several times a day), so we will post more.  Perhaps tomorrow.

A boy and his toys

Maddox is spending more and more of his awake time playing.  It's fun to watch him look around and stare at things.  He gets bored sometimes and will cry until we change the scenery.  This took us a while to figure out... who knew that newborns could get bored? 

His bouncer... though, for this to be entertaining he wants it on vibrate, someone to rock it, and the music playing all at the same time.  Our little multitasker?

His playmat... this is an excellent source of entertainment.  There is a ton of things for him to look at.

Lastly, he loves staring at the fan.  A few weeks ago he would only stare at the ceiling fan if it was off.  I don't think he could focus enough to really see it when it was moving.  Now, though, he likes it moving  slowly, preferably even slower than the lowest speed.  This requires one of us repeatedly push the fan to get it spinning.  Maddox will actually complain if we fail to do so in a timely manner.  And of course we oblige him... what else are we here for?

One month Dr. appt.

Maddox had his one month appointment yesterday (though he is 5 weeks).  He's doing great! 

Length: 22 3/4" (75th percentile)
Weight: 10lbs 8oz (75th percentile)

He's put on 3lbs in a month!  The doctor commended him on his excellent chubbing up abilities.  At his one week appointment, he was in the 25-50th percentile for weight.  He jumped up to the 75th in a month.  Needless to say, we are very proud parents.  :)

This is my favorite way to hold Maddox and it's one of his favorite napping positions.  Super cozy and snuggly.  :)

I guess it's ok.

It was very cute.  He didn't cry or fuss, but just stared up at Luke calmly but tight lipped.  He finally took the bottle with a little coaxing and did fine with it. 

He has been very alert during his awake times...

 He loves staring at anything with contrasting colors, especially the ceiling fan.  He will also stare for a good amount of time at anything new that is put in front of him.  And just this morning he reached purposefully to touch a soft stuffed animal that was next to him.

We even managed to get a picture of him smiling!

He still does a lot of napping, and especially likes sleeping next to or on someone.
