Our first garden
We decided to start our first garden in the backyard of the house we rent. We very ambitiously thought our garden would be a 4x12 planter box... then we arrived at Lowe's and saw how big a piece of 12ft long wood really is and down graded a bit. Our planter box is 4x8. :) We have grand plans for growing all sorts of veggies in our veggie garden. The first thing we planted were three varieties of tomatoes. Home grown tomatoes are, in my humble opinion, the very best home grown veggie around. We also planted some marigolds around the perimeter of the our planter box to attract lady bugs (who, should, eat any aphids). We also planted basil and cilantro seed.
So, tomatoes, marigolds, basil, and cilantro for now. Two of our tomato plants ended up having some kind of fungal infection (we think) so we had to cut a bunch of the leaves and stems off of them. We are hoping they will come back.
At the end of June/beginning of July we'll plant summer squash and green beans. Then, in August, we'll plant sweet and hot peppers, carrots, spinach, and beets. Finally, in September, we'll plant some peas.
We are excited to see how our garden develops. We'll keep posting pictures of our garden and our little gardener.

Thiiiiiiiiiis close to walking
Maddox is getting closer and closer to walking. He will now walk (sometimes up to 15 steps) between people, but has yet to walk from inanimate object to inanimate object. He is getting pretty stable. This video was taken at my parents' house:
Long time no post!
We've been a busy little family. We were in Las Vegas for 2 weeks visiting my family. While we were there we were able to see all of the uncles (and their lovely lady friends), Great Grandma Jayne and Great Grandpa Bernie, Great Uncle Dan and Great Aunt Lynette, Great Aunt Jackie and Great Uncle Martin, good friends Bill and Christine... all of these awesome people made the trek to Las Vegas to visit us while we were there. Ok, really, they made the trek to see Maddox, but Luke and I can pretend they wanted to see us, too, can't we? I was an awful photographer while were in Vegas and don't have very many pictures of our visit. Here are the few that I did take:
Now we are home, settling into our summer in New Orleans. We planted a garden (that deserves it's own post with pictures). Maddox likes to hang out in nothing but a diaper and sunglasses... he's a pretty hip kid.
