Our first garden

We decided to start our first garden in the backyard of the house we rent.  We very ambitiously thought our garden would be a 4x12 planter box... then we arrived at Lowe's and saw how big a piece of 12ft long wood really is and down graded a bit.  Our planter box is 4x8.  :)  We have grand plans for growing all sorts of veggies in our veggie garden.  The first thing we planted were three varieties of tomatoes.  Home grown tomatoes are, in my humble opinion, the very best home grown veggie around.  We also planted some marigolds around the perimeter of the our planter box to attract lady bugs (who, should, eat any aphids).  We also planted basil and cilantro seed.

Marigolds and tomato plants for now... all sorts of yummy stuff later!

Our little gardener

So, tomatoes, marigolds, basil, and cilantro for now.  Two of our tomato plants ended up having some kind of fungal infection (we think) so we had to cut a bunch of the leaves and stems off of them.  We are hoping they will come back.

At the end of June/beginning of July we'll plant summer squash and green beans.  Then, in August, we'll plant sweet and hot peppers, carrots, spinach, and beets.  Finally, in September, we'll plant some peas.

We are excited to see how our garden develops.  We'll keep posting pictures of our garden and our little gardener.

Thiiiiiiiiiis close to walking

Maddox is getting closer and closer to walking.  He will now walk (sometimes up to 15 steps) between people, but has yet to walk from inanimate object to inanimate object.  He is getting pretty stable.  This video was taken at my parents' house:

Long time no post!

We've been a busy little family.  We were in Las Vegas for 2 weeks visiting my family.  While we were there we were able to see all of the uncles (and their lovely lady friends), Great Grandma Jayne and Great Grandpa Bernie, Great Uncle Dan and Great Aunt Lynette, Great Aunt Jackie and Great Uncle Martin, good friends Bill and Christine... all of these awesome people made the trek to Las Vegas to visit us while we were there.  Ok, really, they made the trek to see Maddox, but Luke and I can pretend they wanted to see us, too, can't we?  I was an awful photographer while were in Vegas and don't have very many pictures of our visit.  Here are the few that I did take:

Favorite thing to do at GG's and Gramp's house?  Eat!!

Just walkin'... in a diaper and sandals

Second favorite thing to do at GG's and Gramp's house?  Wash in the sink!

Now we are home, settling into our summer in New Orleans.  We planted a garden (that deserves it's own post with pictures).  Maddox likes to hang out in nothing but a diaper and sunglasses... he's a pretty hip kid.

Adventures in eating, walking, and being cute

Maddox has recently discovered how much fun it is to feed himself with his spoon (read as: he can control how much food he gets at once and how quickly it enters his mouth!).  He has gotten pretty good at feeding himself.

Eating pasta:

For Mother's Day last Sunday, we went out for a walk to get frozen yogurt.  Maddox was pretty stylish in his Hawaiian print shirt!

Yay! Yogurt time!

Cooooooooooome ooooooon, I'm ready to go!
Check out this video from this morning (a few steps!!)

And, just because it's cute:

Happy Mother's Day!!!

To our wonderful mothers, who are both so supportive, loving, and strong women.  We are both so lucky to have you as our moms, and Maddox is incredibly lucky to have you both as Gigi and Grandma.  We love you!!!

A hodge podge of cute

All sorts of things have been going on here.  I finished my semester (yay!), which also means I finished my 3rd year.  3 down, 2 to go!  We are heading into our NOLA summer (hot, hot, hot), and are trying to enjoy being outdoors as much as possible while we still can.

Maddox is making progress on walking, though he still isn't walking unassisted yet.  He cruises like a champ, is attempting standing on his own (see pictures below), and walks while one of us holds his hands.

Get ready, get set...

Go!  Standing!!  He is standing here, even though it looks like he is leaning on my knee, it's legit.  But only for a few seconds before...

"Catch me, Mom!"  Yay!
Luke and Maddox have fun at home together during the day.  They sometimes get a little goofy and do things like this...

Trying on Dada's shirt

We are working on saying "I love you" and he is just too cute when he tries to say it:

As I said, it's been warm here, so we've started introducing Maddox to ice.  In this video, Luke is trying to get Maddox to eat a piece of ice (the ice is in the netted thing Maddox is playing with):
